Gardens, Lounge areas and Swimming Pool
On arrival at Casitas, you will be welcomed by our fluffy, red-flowered Pohutukawa tree. Apart from our spacious swimming pool, relaxing soft lawns and patio areas we have a botanical garden of Spain to explore!
Our Spanish mountain garden was designed over 18 years ago and has many fine specimen plants of both local and international variety. Oranges & lemons are in abundance along with old olive trees which seem to claw onto the mountainsides for life, eating up any bit of soil they can find! Giant pine, bay and palm trees, full of character, playfully take you from one part of the garden to the next.
The gardens have many picturesque and edible shady spots under trees of fig, pomegranate and apple, to name but a few, a yearly supply of nibbling available from the gardens of Casitas de la Sierra!
Apart from the outstanding views of the Grazalema Nature Reserve and Ronda Mountains, guests can enjoy the little pathways and terraces spread over 4 acres of mountainside. Every morning you will be woken by the fragrance from our delicious varieties of honeysuckle, jasmine, roses & bougainvillea. For every meal, help yourself to fresh herbs from the garden: there are bushes of sage, rosemary, mint, lavender and oregano waiting to be trimmed.
Our native varieties of aloe vera and cactus are very special to these areas of Spain and are extremely robust mountain plants; these much-loved veterans give a huge amount of pleasure and are so photogenic!
Directly from the garden through groves of almond, olive and cherry orchards are excellent walks to the city of Ronda, the little gastro town of Benoajan and the well -known Cat Cave (approximately a 30mins hike).
There are a number of communal and well placed BBQ areas along with shady eating areas with tables and chairs to eat Al Fresco.
Kids will enjoy our excellent, safe and top of the range playground facilities in the children’s area where they will find climbing frames, slides, sandpits, swings, toys, picnic area and other entertainment to keep those busy little minds occupied.
